The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is poised to launch its own T20 league in the 2025-26 season, joining a growing trend among state associations.
Anil Patel, Secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association, confirmed the decision to Cricbuzz. While the launch is confirmed, the GCA is still working to identify a suitable window in the calendar. The number of teams and other key details are yet to be finalized for the new T20 competition.
These domestic T20 leagues have increasingly become important scouting grounds for IPL franchises. Leagues in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra, and Saurashtra provide a platform for local talent to shine and potentially earn a spot in the Indian Premier League. Many of these leagues take place in June and July, after the IPL season concludes in May.
